-- From John-Evert
Paraguay is a place of need. It is a place of lacking. Many in Paraguay have a shortage of commodities, shelter, money, and all kinds of material wealth. But they lack something even more important. There is a great need for Christ there in peoples personal lives, in their society, and in their government. True and practiced Christianity brings morality and freedom to a society, thus healing its wounds.
"Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith."
--Alexis de Tocqueville
Yes, Liberty comes from Morality. But, we cannot morally change the Paraguayan culture, or our own for that matter, if we do not first bring the light of Christ into every area of life.
I am thankful to you for your support for reformation in Paraguay. There is hope in Paraguay. I have seen it in the people I have met. Enrique is one of the greatest symbols of hope that I have seen in a long time. He was once a gang member, now he is a leader of youth. Pray for him and for the other youth in Paraguay such as Aldo, Carlos, and Paulo. I see great leaders in these people, and I strongly feel that if there were more youth like these, then Paraguay would most certainly move forward to a brighter future; as the future of any country is in their youth. My heart was touched by the extreme kindness shown to me by the Christians there in Paraguay.
Sincerely and Passionately,
John-Evert Veldhuyzen
