To anyone who has never been dumped in a foreign country thousands of miles away from the safety of our ipods and blackberry curves stop reading this testimony and go buy your plane ticket now.
To anyone who cannot speak the language of said foreign country Rosetta stone will not save you. The best way to learn a new language is to immerse yourself in it fully.
To anyone who is afraid that God cannot use them its not about you its about Him. More than likely, the people you are serving will end up teaching you.
I came to Paraguay carrying a lot of excess baggage like anxiety, resentment and pride. I was involved in an unhealthy relationship and spending any time with the Lord was a hassle. I was ashamed of myself and the Gospel message. I give thanks to God for setting me free. After experiencing the love the Paraguayans freely displayed, even for us Americans, I was reminded of what it means to be a Christian. Despite their circumstances, backgrounds, all the things we ourselves look to as excuses, they showed a relentless and persistent faith in the Lord and an obsession for evangelism. Slowly, I become emboldened in my own faith. Each of us are called to do this and I promise you that if you are willing to be changed you will not regret the results. I pray that each and every of you who reads this will know for yourselves His steadfast love.
Your sister in Christ,
Lizzy
